The Rant: January 28

Posted in Show Podcast on January 29, 2009 by billyliggett

We had to go a half-hour shorter this week because of our “office retreat” Wednesday morning, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t cram 90 minutes of fun into this week’s episode.

This week, we talk about Jon’s moving into a house formerly owned by an older woman (and the benefits of having a seat in the shower); local headlines; Super Bowl commericals and much, much more.

Enjoy.

The Rant: Jan. 22

Snow forced The Rant to delay a day (that’s what we get for broadcasting from a college campus), but we returned for a one-hour show Thursday to discuss Jonathan Owens’ trip to DC for the inauguration, the Oscar nominees and other local headlines.

Enjoy.

We have one of our own attending the inauguration of Barack Obama next week, so that was big on our discussion list. We also discussed Temple Theatre, Lee County High School, cold weather, the legacy of George W. Bush and much more.

The Rant Returneth

Posted in Show Podcast on January 7, 2009 by billyliggett

After a month-long Internet hiatus (and two-week holiday vacation), The Rant is back at you with an hour and a half of radio goodliness today.
Our guests were Temple Theatre artistic director Peggy Taphorn and members of the cast and crew of the newest Temple experience — Hamlet, which begins tonight with a pay-what-you-want show.
To learn more about Hamlet, the Temple and everything associated with the two, go online to www.templeshows.com.

Also this week, we discussed:
• Jon and Gordon’s “break-up” and Jon’s attempt at home ownership
• The wind-caused power outage that knocked out the first 7 minutes of our show.
• Items you will find in every college guy’s apartment/dorm.
• More depressing headlines (local and national) dealing with the economy
• The Temple Theatre’s financial troubles.
