Podcast: The Rant, Oct. 29

Posted in Show Podcast with tags , on October 29, 2008 by billyliggett

This week, our guest was local zombie film producer Christine Parker, the “Lady Cadaver” of our area according to one publication. It was a joy talking about what food makes the best on-film brains, whether her zombies have a soul and what some of her favorite horror films are.
We also talked extensively about the election, and we all listened intently as Jonathan Owens tried to climb out of the hole he dug about racism and this election.
Other fun stuff:
• Billy’s near give-up early in the show
• More Herb Hincks sign talk … hot opinions there
• Another call from Fat Charlie
• Tickets given away for a 3 Doors Down concert.

Enjoy.

The Rant: Extra half hour included

(note: the first 28 seconds is bad music, we hit “record” too soon)

It was a big day for The Rant.
In addition to the show gaining an extra half hour … the following happened today:
• The PODcast, hosted by Sports Editor Alex Podlogar (get it?) followed with its first-ever 30-minute sports talk show.
• Gordon Anderson reported live from Gen. Wesley Clark’s visit in downtown Sanford. Clark was here to stump for Barack Obama.
• We gave away tickets to a Nine Inch Nails concert today (congrats, Miranda … we’ll give away another pair next week).
• Herald Publisher Bill Horner III dropped political knowledge on us a day after last night’s political forum, hosted by The Herald.

Other stuff we talked about:
• Mountains vs. the beach?
• The Herb Hincks sign situation
• The failed AFP rally
• … much, much more

Podcast: The Rant Oct. 15

OK, so it was a crazy week at The Rant.
First off, we had TWO guests … and not at once.
Our first guest was Paul Cox, the North Carolina Press Secretary for the Barack Obama campaign. Second, we had representatives for the ARTober Fest in studio this morning to talk about Saturday’s event.

Then it got weird.
First, it was a phone call from Fat Tony.
Then it was odd baseball talk.
And suddenly, the last 20 minutes of The Rant just got really out of hand. Perhaps we should have just stopped at the one hour mark.

Anyway, hear for yourself. It was a weird one indeed.

We went from amateur guy talk about flatulence to high-brow discussions about Wall Street and the rebirth of a city’s image in today’s episode of The Rant.
Our guests today were Dana Atkins of DWA Photography in downtown Sanford (visit her wonderful Web site here), and Kathleen Rose of Rose & Associates of Davidson (Web site here) — and the two chatted about the 2nd Century Project and Thursday’s big unveiling of Sanford’s new “brand.”
Also from today’s show:
• Man arrested for tossing his “gas” at a police officer
• Music in the Myspace age
• Wall Street’s troubles and why Jon says we should just give the $700 billion to poor people
• Gas shortages and stuff

• and much, much more
